Let us smile a while

When I look back in time
I remember story of a little kid
Hailing from the Far East
His childhood dreams of robinhood
Often used to make him overbid
Someday he'd become something, at least.

Hardly had he known the twist and turn
Topsy-turvy he went as his heart burnt
Dreams began to die too fast
But he remembered what his father told
Son, Every failure is a lesson learnt
Just go ahead, don’t look at past

(Chorus)
And he heard someone singing...

Brush away all your tears
Befriend your innermost fears
Till you begin to smile.
Can you smile when you are sad?
Can you help when you need it yourself?
Can you walk one more mile?
Let us smile a while.

He dug his head deep into the books
When he heard the news of the holy crooks
Who sold themselves for a piece of land
The saffron blood on holy mosque
Shook the nation as he looked for nooks
As friends were no more friend

He closed his eyes and turned away
As the nation burnt and ripped apart
He turned a deaf ear to the screams
The phoenix might rise from the dead
But wounds would still haunt the heart
And yet again, died his dreams

(Chorus)
And he heard someone singing...

Brush away all your tears
Befriend your innermost fears
Till you begin to smile.
Can you smile when you are sad?
Can you help when you need it yourself?
Can you walk one more mile?
Let us smile a while.

Ten years down the line
Disaster struck south open wide
And the deluge of tears soaked him deep
He had seen the lady shivering in cold
Could not save her son from the tide
It was only memories she could keep

He offered her food and she smiled
With her fractured lips and fractured heart
She took the food and turned away
He was moved by her will power
As she could smile as her world fell apart
And moved on to help others near the bay

(Chorus)
And he heard someone singing...

Brush away all your tears
Befriend your innermost fears
Till you begin to smile.
Can you smile when you are sad?
Can you help when you need it yourself?
Can you walk one more mile?
Let us smile a while.
